Hi

Just booked my hols in Corfu :cheesy:

But I was wondering, I fancy getting around the island a bit when I am there but have heard that motorbikes and Corfu roads don't mix very well (though you can blend them together with a hospital).

Anyone actually know if they are a bit dodgy or not - anyone from Corfu here?

Sorry , but I am just a City boy and am not too sure about these things.

Driving is similar anywhere outside the UK. Keep your wits about you and you might survive. ;) I've had a scooter for 8 weeks in Goa now. They've got to be in the running for worst drivers in the world award. There's no road rage as they're ALL bad. :cheesy:

One of my friends broke there leg many years ago going down a pot hole.

Lucky for him there were 17 of us on bikes!!!

I hired a moped in Corfu in 1973 and can confirm that Corfu roads, Ouzo, Retsina and mopeds do not mix well.

The only thing that may have changed in the past 32 years is the roads but I wouldn't bet on it.

Hello, I hired a scooter in Corfu a couple of years ago and found the condition of the bike more worrying than the roads or other road users.

The tyres had no tread and I kept sliding when going around corners.
Other than that we had a great holiday.

Many years ago,I ran into a bloke with a broken leg in a pothole with 17 other geezers

Many years ago I noticed a slight bump, I had ridden over a pothole with 17 mororbike riders in it!
(How long can this one run, I wonder?)
Generally speaking I find motorised transport in much of the Med to be a little on the 'flip a coin and floor it' side, you're generally okay provided you take a really big tube of Germolene with you.

Retsina is only useful as emergency Lavatory cleaner after eating Greek food IMHO

It smells like Pine bog cleaner and tastes just like Pine bog cleaner.

Retsina is an anagram of Stainer so it may not be quite right for Pine bog cleaning.

Jonny, I am just a little concerned at how you know what Pine Bog Cleaner tastes like

Thankfully, I haven't drunk for a number of years now, so I think I can be blessed by NOT experiencing alcoholic bog cleaner. I have drunk enough cheap Spanish wine in the past to know what I am 'missing'.

Though I do wonder, does Ouzo go cloudy when you drink it and it goes into your stomach?
