About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that when the US employment figures were released the £/$ started to move quite sharply. Can anyone tell me when and how often these figures are released? Also is there any website that gives details of when these figures and other economic data are released? It seems that it would be helpful to know when these announcements are made.

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks,
IM.

try dailyfx.com, click on calender which will give you an overview of the coming weeks and then global economic calender for the week will give you a more detailed look at the news announcements for the next week and the times they are due.

The more significant ones will be the ones in bold type.

Sometimes the market really moves around these significant news announcements, sometimes not. The most significant ones are non farm payroll figures on the first friday of the month generally at 1.30pm. Other monthly figures are employemnt figures etc, greenspan speaking etc. Also, you can get a few bunched together, which particularly if they are around the US open (1 to 1.30pm UK time) can lead to some big moves developing from this time of day.

You could try here

The page defaults to the current week, and an explanation is given for each report, explaining the reasons why the report is pertinent to investors.

Good luck
