Choiceodds

Clowns' choice

Hello,
I do not post a lot but have been mainly reading this board and found it a very good resource.
Today when I read this couple of posts about choiceodds just could not restrain myself from replying.
Having started off with their 5 min product and betting 10pence on their FX I thought I was onto something big. But it was not to be for too long as just after a week of playing my requests are about 80% rejected. Also there is a tendency to accept trade in a worst possible time for me after a looooooong processing perd.

Only one consolation: they have planted a couple of trees somewhere from my bets.

And has anyone noticed the huge spread on many markets now?I just wish these firms could find a way of hedging.

Did you phone them and ask why?

They think I am an arber. Since you can only trade a 1-3 lot with them, would I be arbing to make £3 an hour?

They are so nervous of people legging them over that i see this business going nowhere fast.

I had the same experience - I was only allowed to play for a few hours before things changed and almost all my bets were rejected.

Yes, their restrictions are self-defeating as they can't grow their customer base with manual fills. You guys getting good fills on FX?

same problem on FX - they are turf accountants not finance guys - they won't tolerate winners, only mug punters

Does anyone have the closing price ("settled at") for 13:05 (close) (23MAR07) for GBPUSD (on your settled bets page)??

Thanks,

I get rejected all the time by BinaryBet, Lads etc but just get on with it. I take the view this is betting - some you win, some you lose, and so far I'm up with choiceodds without having the experiences you are describing.

These boards have so many people just complaining, I enjoy them when there’s something useful I can learn from but otherwise it’s more like a gossip column. I take the view that ChoiceOdds is a good thing for the industry, it’s given me a new strategy to use and opens up other arb opportunities I otherwise wouldn’t have had when there was only really BB to seriously use.

As for wide spreads, the markets in common with other firms seem the same, and I can't compare the others because no-one else offers them (like Dax hourly). Competition is good, if the other firms raised their game then maybe the spreads on unique markets would change.

Guys (and girls) if we slag off choiceodds out of existence we’ll all be poorer for it.

Here here.

Whatever we may think about Vendor A versus Vendor B we are better off with more than less. The greater the number of participants the lower their spreads will be and the more we benefit.

Couldn't agree more. Sooner betaexoticbets goes live the better. We need more binary providers offering the widest possible range of betting opportunities.

Yep, the more of them there are, they less they will make and the more we will.

It is not a linear proposition but certainly follows a predictable trend towards reduced margins for the vendors and higher probability products for us.

If choiceodds are not accepting even small bets then those who say they are getting there bets on must be losing or someone is lying. If they are stopping people because they win they they are not bookmakers but croooks whom will eventually go out of business. A bookmaker should try and get both sides of the market covered and hence take a small % at either end. My guess is that they are losing big time on the 5 mins bet as it seems a good way to make money.

Well all I can say is that I'm getting accepted, and am up with choice compared to my other acccounts. Mainly on 5 minute markets but sometimes venturing on longer markets where I see value. Been withdrawing winnings no problem as well, straight in to my bank account.

Yes, they are a top outfit. Manual fills that take 20 seconds, massive spreads and a great range of bets that you can't trade above a few p/p LOL. Someone want to run a binary price on them surviving until xmas?

Yes, I will take that bet and offer some long odds on their going under.

I am sure they will survive longer than that.

I am not saying that they are good or bad, my opinion is very mixed, but they are doubtless well funded.http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/article.aspx?Symbol=GB:LAD&Feed=MCIntl&Date=20070306&ID=6572400

With backers like that any business will last longer than 12 months.

I look forward to reading their published accounts on the Companies House website when they are made available.
