Hi everyone out there,

Has anyone got good or bad experience with this trading platform from IG Markets?

My experiences were:
1) intermittent inaccessible to their trading platform
2) unforeseen disruptions in live session
3) trading platform suddenly becomes unavailable on nonfarm payroll day (1st Friday of the month)
4) unable to reach their Helpdesk team at crucial moment to close order due to above (1) or (2)
5) price movement will JUST hit my pre-orders & then move against me till reached my SL & strangely unable to see it in their charting software

I used a 1MB fixed line broadband at home with either IE or Firefox browser. I also have a 2MB wireless broadband for my notebook. I think my nternet connection is working fine as able to access other sites including my demo accounts. Just cannot figure out what is wrong with IG Markets. Their response to my e-mail said that nothing wrong with their system & everything wrong with my system & browser.
:(
Thanks for your feedback

Their platform has been stable for me, on variety of Firefox and Safari on Windows/Mac. It was down at one point (in the early hours of the morning) for a bit, but I was more curious than actively trying to trade so didn't really make a note. The bit with the heldesk isn't good, though.

Your stop/loss problem isn't something I would see, I set my mechanical s/l way off the price and then use closer numbers in my head, so can't comment on.

My advice would be to not trade at all on their platform for a couple of weeks, just log in frequently, see if it gets any better. It _could_ be a routing problem that affects a small part of the Internet...

Thank you RNICOLL & HOGGUMS for your feedback. I guess monitoring is a good advice unless I can find an alternative online trading system. Just went into IG Markets trading platform website, was able to logn to live account, but, the usual page showed all screwed up. How to do ordering like that? Wish I can post the screenshot for you to see. Sigh ....

Did just have a brief outage about 20 minutes ago, for reference, but it was back up in about 10 minutes...

I have installed two free av - AVG & Avaste plus other internet potection programs. Nothing wrong with my notebook & also neither wrong with my fixed line broadband & wireless broadband from two different ISP. I very kiasu type. I still think the problem lies with the SG trading platform server which is a distribution streaming server receiving its source from the UK server lor. I have not login to IG Markets since my entry as to cool down first from the occassional disrupted sessions. Thanks & have a nice evening & a good weekend. Bye.

i am trying to login with my demo account and no it just isnt working since aroudn 4 oclock. it is now 7.15

Demo has problems. Live is fine. Once you move from demo to live trading you'll find it a lot more stable imho.

do you trade with them on a regular basis? and do they spike on purpose so they can wipe you out from a trade?

Trade with them all the time and they do not spike any prices against you, to the best of my knowledge their price feed is from 5 or 10 banks and soo their prices just track these so any spikes are from the underlying market not IG themselves

Yep. I have no spike related problems in live. When I was demo trading with them, I would find that on market opening the wild variation on initial sell prices would sometimes be lower than my stops which are either 1xATR or just below a level of support - whichever is greater thus closing positions. When I came to look at an alternative feed I'd find out that the market never even got close to these prices. I spoke to some geeks and the account manager about it and they assured me it wouldn't happen for real and true to their word, it hasn't.

imho they're fine. no problems at all. I trade CFD's with them and am not Spreadbetting so can't really speak for their IGIndex thing - I'm just using their IGMarket interface.

it seems they have everything under one roof. CFD's, FX, Commodities and futures etc...
I think i will open a live account with them and give it a try.
by the way which account do you guys have the limited one or the trader account(with no limits)?

NO limits, if your new to Sb/trading go with the tradesense thing for 10p pt starting for 6 weeks.

And watch the spread on some things, oil can be 10pt spread which is a bit wide in my opinion.

IG Market Platform is a Scam

I Have experienced same things happening again and again as mentioned below,
I am writing to FSA, and reporting IG and the way the rip people off

I have also had a very poor experience with the IG Index platform this morning.

I placed a trade on the AIB and bought in at 158.5 and the market was moving in my favour. (As I am a relative nivice to Spreadbetting and allowed to place small bets of 20p per point this is what I did.

8 minutes later I moved the Stop / Limit on the trade to 135 and 180 ane the market was still moving my way.

2 minutes after that I moved the stop and Limit again to 155 185

7 minutes after that the system closed out my trade apparently because my stop limit had been reached. As I currently playing with this system to learn it's workings I tried to investigate how and when the share price had hit the 155 stop. Unfortunately there was no evidence forthcoming from the website graphs they have on there so I rang their helpdesk and they agent there simply told me that there must have been a very short spike which brought the price below 155.

He tells me that he will be forwarding me evidence of this fact.
Maybe someone out there is aware of this ?

Did the price of AIB dip below 155 between 10:54 and 11:01 on the 28th October?

I have lost confidence in IG Index's trading platform - not for the way it works but for the level of information you can expect to receive after the system closes out trades.

It's not the money I lost - only 70p but the level of trust I could place in them if there were larger amounts at stake.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Anthony

According to my charts AIB did spike as low as 150 around the time you mention so it looks like they were correct. Just part of trading unfortunately.
