2007 - Qualifications for roles

Hi everyone,

I have just signed up and read a lot about getting started as i am in the boat of "getting ready to start"... I am keen to hear of anyone who has got into Trading or Inter Dealer Broking in the last 12 months to give me their assessment of the market now - as opposed to 2-3 years ago when some of the posts were written.

If i tell you where i am currently then please can someone give me a realistic view of the way forward, qualifications to take, type of people to approach, that type of thing...???

- 23 years old
- 3x A-C Alevels
- 2.2 BScEcon degree
- Been Recruiting for 2.5 years straight out of Uni, been developing business, closing candidates and clients, have my own personal Share portfolio, keen on banking/trading/broking etc, and just looking for a way in. In truth i was naive as a youngster and got all my education without much (if any) applied study - just turned up to lessons/lectures etc and sat the exams... poor i know but i was lazy and arrogant!

Now i have looked into doing an IAQ and then applying to every "junior/entry" level role out there... i think my chances in IDB are better than Trading because unless i can get an interview and woo the line managers i know trading is for Red Brick Uni guys...

Can anyone offer a potential improvement or even an agreement on my plan - which is IAQ, IDB back office... then move up??

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

cheers
