Hello there,

I am finishing my MSc (Quant. Econ.) and during the next few years, I want to join a trading desk fulltime.

For now I was using mainly TA approach write a trading diary, etc. In a year or two I want to pass few certificates required for quants.

I am asking you which courses (online) and programming skills should I apply for. I would like to work with excel, C++, maybe Java, if you have any other programs which I should add please let me know.

Cheers!

I'm no hot shot or anything but I can't grasp why, if you are doing a quant econ Msc and want to join a desk, you trading TA rather than attempting to utilise your skill set by incorporating it into a trading plan? Would you hire a pipe welder to do your plumbing?

Just my opinon is all.

Also, my extensive experience of being rejected by many, many firms has taught me that you'd be best off doing C++ (as if you can do that you can do anything given a bit of time) and being very familiar with VBA.

G/L
