Yes indeed, quite so.

When things are bad, we take comfort in the thought that they could always be worse. And when they are, we find hope in the thought that things are so bad that they have to get better

dont let thing's get bad

So you don't beleive that a mentor would be a good way so that we don't make mistakes ourselves but learn from the mistakes of others?

Trading is a very very costly business to run and a newbie trader can be taken for all he's gat, there seems to be nobody out there trying to help new traders it is like they like to see them fail. I guess the saying is true loosers pay winners.

I started to do Dr. Van Tharps course that teaches traders how to overcome the challenges most traders face everyday. When I first started trading I lost sooooo...... much money because i had nodody to turn to so I had to make costly mistakes. This was why I thought of meettraders.com/friends so that traders can help traders. Everybody knows how costly trading is but they also know how rewarding it can be also. I would really like to see a community of traders helping each other instead of breaking each other down.

How can you learn to swim without getting wet?

"And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more."
-- Erica Jong.

And I agree 150% with you but many peopel don't understand how much to risk, I know I didn't and like I said there was nobody to help or to show me. I had nobody to ask advice everything came with a price. I trade the forex markets and I was happy if I made 30 pips but I would risk 50 to make 30 so if my trade went against me I would loose 50 pips and go back in to try and make the 50 back or some of it and maybe lost more but I was too afraid to stay in and see what the market was going to do.. Meettraders.com/friends is free post whatever trading related material you want only if it is going to assist less knowledgeable traders. we must be our brothers keepers we all want to make money in this game. Lets spread the knowledge, help out traders in need

rols, I like what you said in the thread trading ideas, I have read alot od posts here and on other forums and it seems as if 90% or them are looking for help with something

Your sentiment at a humanistic level is commendable, but unfortunately you are viewing through the wrong goggles altogether, I respectfully submit.

Get naval gazing!

There is no "easy" way to becoming a master at anything. Blindly copying other people or their systems will only empty your account. I think Alpha Sigma Chi covered much of what is really important. Learning to trade is like any other education, it costs time and money, but most of all the key is self development. Forget about finding the Holy Grail because there aint one, it's just a metaphor for enlightenment.

"For those who know, there is no need for explanation. For those who do not, none will suffice."

Precisely, very aptly put.

to sum it all up are you all saying that it is wrong to help others..... you feel as if they should pay by trial and error like we did

I do not say ever it is wrong to help others.

But what I do say that to offer help indiscriminatively is a waste of time and effort.

Those who deserve help have to show they are deserving of that help before it can be given.

This is not cruel or malicious in any way, it is the consequence of long experience in having to struggle with dunces, I respectfully submit to you.

This is absolutely correct. My compliments to you.

And you can talk yourself blue in the face and not only does it not land, but the rewards are abuse and disrespect in exchange for the benefits of hard earned knowledge and experience over many years at enormous personal cost.

Therefore there is a line in the sand that must prudently not be crossed, except in exceptional circumstances and with regard only to what can be described as truly gifted individuals.

That is why I keep saying that traders are born and not made, but very few indeed are able to understand this or indeed accept it.

There is no right or wrong about it. Like the markets there is no certainty, no black or white, just infinite shades of grey. Rainbows are for dreamers. Every trader has his own personality. Advice is cheap and ultimately meaningless. This is why I believe it is at best misleading to give advice and foolish to take any.

99% of the time these days (especially in the markets) the word 'mentor' has been hijacked my marketers wanting to sell you something.

Want proof, just look at how many trading 'mentors' there are right now, all willing to help you, just need your credit card details of course..........

You do not have to avail yourself of any offers of mentoring by anybody.

All you have to do is read everything on this website, contributed by more than 40,000 members, nearly all of whom are geniuses.

You only have to read the closed loop arguments that develop for you to realise it is not necessary for anybody to look any further, but for you to make of all of it what you will, I respectfully submit, Anley.
