Hello,

Are there any T2W members who use or have used Stock-investor pro software?
(Does this fit the Canslim board criteria? - there's a canslim stock screen in there!)

Cheers,
UTB

I use it. It is really all you need for CANSLIM - other than free charts.

Thanks for the response Ajaskey.

what are you looking for on the charts (given that they're rubbish within SIP)?

What's your selling criteria? Do you hold until the stock no longer meets the sreen?

Do you use the modified screen, and do you use any other tock screens within it?

Any other points of note for usig the software?

Thanks in advance,
UTB

I've just started using Stock investor pro and I've run both CAN SLIM screens. Each finds only 4 companies in a group of over 9000 stocks. And the filter doesn't take in L (leader or laggard) or M (market direction) for consideration. So there are effectively 0 CAN SLIM stocks out there. The system is a failure.

I use it Blades. Not for Canslim, I use it for my own screens and some of the other pre-programmed ones. Very impressive, IMO, good support and cheap. Once you join, they send an interesting monthly newsletter, etc. Obviously totally US centric. Also beware of the performance stats - in practice slippage can be quite severe: many of the filtered stocks are small cap and everyone obviously rejigs their portfolios at the same time which means you get a lot of people buying/selling certain names at the start of the month so you need to think a bit about how to handle that. Some of the filters are more prone to account churn than others. My rules are that when a stock no longer fits the filter criteria - ditch it. Portfolio performance has been very good, if not quite at the levels shown on their website for reasons stated above.

Hello Bagehot - an old thread brought to life!

Since then I've been a happy user of SIP.

I've struggled with some of the beter performing screens such as Canslim, Zweig, Titans, Octagon - I suspect for the reasons you state - slippage due to the crowd.

I've had more success with those with "account churn", possible because of the use of a bit of TA for better entries and exits.

I too ditch as soon as the criteria aren't met.

Cheers,
UTB
