Is there no one here that is interested in day trading the FTSE or do you all have bigger fish to fry :D

Every post I look at its all FX GOLD and OIL.

Just thought I would start this little thread for any FTSE day trader, they maybe another somewhere that I have missed but another isn't going to hurt if thats the case.

First trade today using my spasticated and simple trading system 20 points at open.

Really easy to take this one.

Recap of todays trades. 50 points total £12 per point Total risk attached to both trades 10 point each = £240 risk in the market today.

Total profit = £600

Below is the details of the 2 trades. I only trade when volatility is rising or is stable.

Volatility is key, if I was a dog and volatility was a leg I would hump the life out of it.

Who said anything about being a live thread. I'm showing what I took and my charts/reasons.

If you want a tipping service I'm sure some members here will offer you that :p

I'm sure that there are many who do. I'm one but I'm getting a bit too old for it and am trying longer term trades. Nice to meet you! Don't forget that UStech is, also, a nice little index for the British pm trader.

Rest assured I wont be asking for any tips. I post most of my trades live.:smart:I just have a bug to bear with people claiming profits and posting charts after the event, theres very little point. Perhaps you would explain more about your methods, that way you may get sme, credibility.

:) credibility is not something that interests me much dude. But good for you to call your trades live. I think you should be given at least 3 T2W brownie points for that!

The point of this thread is for FTSE day traders to discuss there trades/ideas and systems if they desire. I'm sure if I was after credibility or gave 2 ****s about it I would start a live trade thread:p

To get the thread back on track this is a trade that I would not take because volatility is falling in the market at the current time. If it was rising then no problem I would take the trade.

Like my other post said I only trade when volatility is on the rise or is stable.

This keeps me out of bad trades and only enters me when the market has to potential to move for a period of time.

Few people have the time to post live entries. I tried it but it's more work than the actual trading, itself, and one has to be dedicated to the forum, 100%, to be effective .

You must pay attention to one thing or the other.

Chat rooms? A waste of time.

Day Trading System

Well read a load of **** here on T2W about various systems and toss pots who claim to be traders but never share their systems:p

Damn man I could name around 200 hundred members/veteran members legendary members who have this status but done JACK **** for the forum.

So I will spill my beans next week right here on how I earn 20 to 60 points a day EVERY FU+KING day trading the SB FTSE100 daily cash.
I will post up system details for the first week then on the second week run through some live trades then on the 3rd week I will make live calls.
After that its up to you.

Re: Day Trading System

:) Interesting idea for a thread. I to trade the FTSE100 a little, although due to work commitments more of an opening breakout system. 20 points a day is ny aim, I know it doesn't sound much.

At the moment I am averaging more like 10 a day, although it's +10, so not deeply unhappy. We are all always learning after all.

Hope the thread keeps going and we get to share some ideas.(y)

With a face like yours, which I think I have seen around somewhere, I shall, certainly, be hoping to learn something on this thread! :)

 I've just got one of those kind of faces, always being mistaken for other people.

Anyway on an aside, my simple system on ftse, although it loses a smidge over half the time, my winners are circa double my losers, so it makes money at the moment.

I have experimented with the Dow but seems a lot more volatile? (ignoring the fact that it is double the size pointswise and therefore moves about double the points). I wonder if the mention of the US tech or other big indices behave more like the FTSE?

I hope this isn't too off topic and I am sure we will be back on topic shortly. Although I am learning to improve I am also thinking some diversity may be helpful.

Keep up good work all (y)

I won't put my mug shot on the thread!

Your comment on US tech is good. Next month I shall be able to trade afternoons, so I'll pay attention to it. In the mornings it, pretty well, tracks FT so one might as well stay with FT.

Hi LF,
I've noticed - along with many other members no doubt, that you always make this point on any thread where a member posts historical trades and charts. IMO, it doesn't make a jot of difference if the system is useless and the member that posts it loses money hand over fist - even if they claim the opposite. Take two extremes:

Trader No.1
A member who does as you wish and calls live trades in advance and then, just for good measure, provides audited broker statements to prove they actually took the trades themselves. They're making the kind of money most of us only ever dream of.

Trader No.2
A member posts trades after the event but, as Xenophobia has kindly done here, provides a comprehensive explanation of their strategy / system. Let's say that Trader No.2 in this example is a complete fraud (not Xen', obviously!) They've never taken a live trade, they've only paper traded the system and their account is showing a large loss - even though they claim to be profitable.

Now, on paper, trader No.1 is great and everyone would do well to copy them, while trader No.2 should be avoided like the plague. Not so. Here's why . . .
As everyone knows, trading someone else's strategy is MUCH harder than trading one you've devised yourself. I'm willing to bet that 100 members could try to copy the strat' Xen' outlines here and none of them will achieve the same results as him. Sure, they might make a bit more on the occasional trade - or lose a little less - but, over the course of a week or more, they won't do as well as Xen'. Many will fail completely to make any headway with the strat' whatsoever.

The same ones that fail with Xen's strat' could try trader No.2's strat' and get much better results than s/he does. The bottom line is that it's how each person interprets and implements these strat's that matters. The results that Xen' gets with his strat' bears no relation whatsoever to the results that you or I might get. So, there is nothing of particular value to be gained from posting advance calls. It's the reasoning behind the methodology that really matters and whether it sets off a  in the minds of those that read it. So, all ideas that are well thought out and clearly explained have value, and the members who take the time to post them should be commended for their contribution and not criticised for failing to post live calls in advance.

Rant over!
;)
Tim.
