Hi everybody,
I am looking for a (ascii) list of all Wilshire 5000 symbols.

Is there a source where I can get a list like this?

I do not need the data, just the symbols so that I can get the data from yahoo via Amiquote or YGQD myself.

TIA and kind regards

Contrary to its name, the Wilshire 5000 index actually comprises of all listed stocks on the AMEX, NASDAQ and NYSE. However, those securities must be equity securities or REITs (eg. warrants are excluded) and also non-US companies are excluded too.

Note that back in 2004, Wilshire did a deal with Dow Jones to calculate their indices for 5 years.

In late 2009, Wilshire did not renew that agreement and now Dow Jones produce a very similar index called the Dow Jones Total Stock Market index which is practically the same methodology as Wilshire.

Methodologies here:
http://www.wilshire.com/Indexes/5000_&_4500_Methodology.pdf
http://www.djindexes.com/mdsidx/dow...on_Total_Stock_Market_Indexes_Methodology.pdf

I believe Dow Jones and Wilshire only make their symbol lists available to institutional subscribers.

Perhaps you could ask them and report back here?

Just an update from Wilshire: "Wilshire indexes constituent information is available only through a subscription to the Wilshire Data Service. Non-clients have access only to the public information on the website."
