Does anybody have any advice re: the best broker for shorting US stocks?
I have an account with OptionsXpress, which I am happy with for long positions. However, their margin rates appear to be high for the (limited) stocks they make available for shorting. Especially considering that I hedge all short positions by purchasing call options.
Ideally I do not want to have to make too large a deposit to open the account. This was one of the factors which attracted me to OptionsXpress (they do not have a minimum opening balance)
