Open position Margin

Hi all

Have a question for you all.

What is the maximum amount of margin you would run on the open positions for your account.

I am putting together some trade data for a trade journal and although I have good money management for position sizing in relation to % account risk per trade I also need to factor in margin, especially if trading high margin instruments such as the indicies.

Any comments appreciated

Thanks

As a daytrader , I'd use anything up to 100% margin at any given time on any 1 particular trade.I doubt you wanted to hear it though!

Hi Nobrainer

You are right, that's not what I wanted to hear , :)

The system I have the journal on is an EOD system and I am wondering if I could run it on a max 50% margin on open positions.

Because I need diversification to help me it means that I can quickly get up to a say 30% margin limit , which would in turn limit the number of position I could then open.

If you daytrading on 100% margin don't you run risk of being margin called often?
