Hedging Against a Stock - Where to Open?

Just wondering where is the most logical place to open a CFD against the purchase of a stock? Looking to either make money from the cfd or simply cover my stock purchase.

Would placing a limit sell order with a stop loss CFD around 8% from my stock purchase make sense?
