Early Assignment Question

If I am assigned early on a call option, how long do I have to react to the exercise in order to buy shares?

For example: If the buyer of the option exercises their option on Monday. Then will I be notified of the exercise by my broker on Tuesday? Does this mean that I have one day (Tuesday) to buy the shares of the stock?

Does your broker have to notify you that you have been assigned by 9:30 EST at market open?
