betting a share with period of Dec-16

I'm considering a long spread bet on a share that I think will do well over the next 6 months to a year, and seen prices quoted on IG for 'Period: Dec-16'. Does that mean the price I buy at now, holds til then, and there is no rolling over fee/daily fee?

And if I do take it out, can I close it off at any time?

The price will still move, as the market moves. But yes no rolling fees.

Sorry ffsear, didnt make myself too clear. What I meant was if i bought now for 400p, then in December says it is 500p, I make a clear 100 points?

And can I close it before Dec, and take profit/loss?

Thanks again ffsear, have just had my account transferred over to LCG (from Capital Spreads) (I use IG too) and cant see the 'Dec-16' price on my LCG account, only on IGIndex

Traditionally, spread betting providers would only offer 'futures style' bets. Given the fixed pre-determined monthly expiry date, no overnight charges are applicable and contracts can be rolled over to the subsequent month. Rolling bets are a more recent development [see the links below]

These days many providers only offer 'rolling dailies' - I presume they don't want the hassle of quoting far-out future months.
