I think Brown is being a bit of a c*nt here but McIntyre has some choice lines too...

Don't use Ben Brown and the BBC as a proxy for the police officers involved.

Yes, Brown must try to be fair, but I think he over-stepped the mark somewhat. Get the chief of Police on newsnight and let Paxman have a go at him. It's the bloody rozzers what done it in the first place.
