Average Return

Hey all.

I recently joined a website where you buy shares in football players. I'll make money when players perform well or if they transfer to better teams. I've been on just under a month and made 6% return. Looking at the stats of loads of players on the site over a year, they all appreciate at least double their original price.

My plan is to buy a load of players and leave them for a year or so

What kind of returns can the average joe expect to make in stocks? I need to make a decision about how much i invest in stocks.
