I believe jtrader is looking for a mechanical strategy. 'fairly quickly', 'stuff in a stop' 'hundred zone', 'towards zero' and 'slope' just don't make the grade.

Nothing's easy. But you do have a choice.

jtrader, You're coming at the problem the wrong way. There are two ways to create strategies. 1) Long term, trend-following, 'fat-tail' approaches. 2) Strategies that take advantage of a particular phase/mode of the market. e.g. breakouts work in volatile markets, overbought/oversold signals...

There are a few people with 25k line strats. TS may not be the fastest in the world but you can get well beyond 100 lines before you have problems. Yes you can. It isn't native but it's easily doable. Yes you can. There are several 'make your own index' solutions posted on the TS boards.

This is a summary of a simplified version of this system run on NQ - but you get roughly the same results no matter what you do. This system is very unstable. It just happens if you pick an RSI of 5 in the year 2005 it makes money. But the rest of the time it sucks.

mr_cassandra - Look on the VTO website. They're trading the NDX. That's not possible. If you take their signals, but instead use them to trade the QQQQ you will get completely different results from those given. Simple.

I can't find any variations that are even remotely similar to VTO's reported results for the NDX/QQQQ. Even with futures the system has been flat from around the end of 2001. Dow variations are even worse. Only SPX variations seem to have any hope! But even the best results have >50%...

this vto stuff is just a trick. the results bear no relation to real trading.

So that you can test all the strategies listed in this forum and see what crap they are. Everyone backtests. It's just that some people use a computer, some don't. Not using a computer means you can look at a wider range of strategies and be more flexible in your approach. But it is also...
