whats the spread on your platform?

I am practising on a US based trading platform called FXCM. I found it on Bloomberg - would anyone advise against using a US platform? (i am starting to put real money in the first week of January). I mainly trade GBP/AUD and FXCM average a 7pt spread - is that standard?
