    Liverpool Street

Anyone interested in a meet up near Liverpool Street? Open invitation, any ability level etc. I am thinking like 6-7pm straight-from-work type thing.

Day Trading from home software setup - Advice please!

If it's the 'free' that you don't like, you can send me your money. "only go down when the exchange goes down" Well, sorry, but that doesn't exist. Not even in a bank. Working on a trading desk, I'm sure you're accustomed to "my quote is 2 seconds slow going out!" and "prices 3 seconds...

    Linux and Daytrading

Been running 100% Linux for years although I have vmware with a windows 2000 virtual machine. I run SuSe for my desktop machine and Gentoo for a couple of server things (like a db with historical data and some work stuff). I use a few small linux tools for storing and maintaining historical...

Need help with flight sponsorship or extremely cheap flights?

Sorry don't have too much to add but make sure you include flights going via other countries in your flight searches. These are often cheaper. For example, you may ind that London -> Malaysia -> Singapore is cheaper. Even London -> Malaysia -> bus to Singapore. The other thing is, timing of the...

    Trading/Financial Markets Career Advice Req'd

Hi soosta, I work on a fixed income trading floor and there are plenty of successful traders there that are not exactly mathematically minded. They calculate risk in their heads pretty quickly but that's about it. Some I would say are indeed exceptional (even mind-blowing!) but of course, it...

Psychology Getting Started The Evolution of a Trader

Enjoyed this artcle a lot, however this line troubled me: "There is no point having a trading strategy if we can’t trade and no novice trader knows how to trade." It's probably not the way it was supposed to be taken but it does sound a bit like he's saying a novice shouldn't have any kind of...

    REFCO Trading Services et al

charliechan, don't know what firm but I'm definately going to find out and report back. He was trading money markets. Is it easier to make a profit working from an arcade?

    Prop firm-anyone heard of them?

Hi - has anyone got a URL for this one? Struggling to find it in Google (probably due to the general nature of the company name). I don't see it on the list of arcades in Traderpedia either.

    REFCO Trading Services et al

charliechan, he was paid £30k and he was an employee of the firm. I don't know what kind of degree he has, if any. He was hired on a recommendation.

    REFCO Trading Services et al

Hi, had a better look around the site now and found loads of threads on this (obviously wasn't searching for the correct thing previously.. it's the hangover). I think for now I will stay in the relative safety of a large institution but I can see that, provided care is taken, there exists...

    REFCO Trading Services et al

Thanks Many thanks mikeyk, I may drop REFCO a line at some point. I'd be interested in taking a look around the facilities if they're willing. "..people come onto these boards with the wrong attitude and pre-conceptions." By this do you mean they tend to incorrectly judge these companies as...

    REFCO Trading Services et al

Hi, does anyone have experience with these trading houses such as REFCO, Advance Trading Group, Futex (I think these particular 3 are all closely related but there are many more in London)? I have a friend who worked for one before but was 'made redundant' due to performance. When he started...

    I'm doing great!

nice one Hi wwatson, I'm just wondering where you get the courage to post your trades. Do you drink heavily? :) Unless you're a living legend you're like guaranteed criticism. There's almost a feeling that people WANT you to lose (I'm SURE that's not true from the wonderful folks here at t2w)...

    MSN hotmail problem

Firefox jtrader, glad Firefox is working out for you. I have never tried Thunderbird as I only use webmail. Firefox also runs on Mac and Linux as well.. it's nice to have a common interface across platforms.

    MSN hotmail problem

firefox You should use the Firefox browser instead. It's free: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ It has a popup blocker, is very clean and fast and best of all, it does not contain gaping holes that spyware can exploit. Worth a try at less than 5mb.
