I began trading at the end of 2002. I initially had a lot of luck in the market using just one strategy, sell the USD vs the EURO. When the USD stopped falling briefly I got killed... but not before I got hooked. I began to spend 8-10 hours a day (apart from a full-time job!) trying to learn indicators and the "secret" to trading. Like all newbies I spend bunches of money on trade signals and B.S. trading courses. I eventually arrived at the conclusion that nobody had any idea what they were doing and if I was going to become a successful trader I was going to have to develop my own strategies. I spent all my free time doing just that over the next two years. I was eventually able to quit my job and trade full-time. I then entered a phase where I became overly confident and lost a lot of money for myself and my friends and family whose accounts I was also trading. Humbled by the experience I decided to become even more regimented in my trading approach and money management. I began developing statistical trading models that told me when, where, and why to enter the market and how much to risk on that trade based on historical probability and market volatility. This new disciplined approach changed my outlook on trading all together... rather than viewing it as an art, I began to view it as a science. A while later I learned about Metatrader and EAs... automated trading seemed to match my style perfectly so I hooked up with an excellent programmer and we began to develop EAs.
