A lifetime of trading.
Started as floor trader, made a lot.
Morphed into a hedge fund, made more.
Now teach trainees as 30 years of trading is enough and it's rewarding to see a youngster start from nothing, work, learn, grow and get rich.
TRADING IS A SKILL THAT CAN BE TAUGHT.
For what it's worth, my experience of what makes for successful trading are
1. Commitment, work rate, hunger and patience
2. There is no better way to make a lot of money PLUS achieve total freedom and independence from your boss, clients and restrictions (unless you can invent a best-selling app, or set up a business, but both of these involve dependence on others, overheads, sales, marketing, clients, unpaid invoices and a lot of luck!)
3. Your method/system is important but most important is PSYCHOLOGY/PERSONALITY
4. Support. There are people who make it as self-educated traders but they are VERY rare. It is possible, and I am prepared to believe that there are good teachers out there, but just as with diets, exercise regimes or business start-ups, very few of us have the self-discipline to see it through. Just as in sport, if you have people to help through the bad days and kick your ass when you've been lazy or stupid, you're far more likely to succeed.
