Well! I'm Sadhiq from India. I began trading for a firm in the US. I trade out of India. I started trading from August '06. I was trained to trade stocks in NYSE. Gold and Copper mining stocks like FCX, PCU, PD (aquired by FCX) were the stocks that I began trading with.
Intially I traded with one or two lots with tight stop losses of $50 a day. I was trained to analyze charts and also to compare the price movements of stock from the same industry. I was lucky enough wen I started b'coz the mining stocks, especially PCU wud have spike in their prices b'coz of its bigger spread. All I used to do was to have a limit order some 40 cents away from the current price and wud wait for a spike to get my print. This worked well for me and also was very safe to start my trading career with.
But then two months later these spikes in prices wer no where to be seen. Thats wen my trading style changed. I started to trade with some fundamental ideas (like Gold n Copper prices) and also wid some gut feeling. And I started making money slowly but steadily. My trading size increased and so did the profits.
From the beginning I didnt believe in technical analysis. All I wud watch out for is some fundamental news and the prints. This style worked out for me in the first year. But then things began to change. I suppose I got too carried away by my success in the first year. I started trying different things, my consistency got affected. I started making the mistakes of an amateur. My losses increased to a great extent. I started losing confidence. Emotions started to crrep into my trading. And thats the way its been till this day.
But i'm confident of turning it around. I feel these sort of times are necessary for making me a better trader. I also learned the importance of technical analysis. I have cut down my trading size and also my stop loss. I'm confident I dont commit the mistakes of an amateur and hopeful of turning things around.
I ended up mak
