thanks again for your post Timm. I have applied for a forex account with CMC - this is going to reduce my transaction costs by one third - which is really going to add up over several months. Their trading platform (demo version) also looks superior to that of IG Markets.

I called CMC and you are right. At this point the contract was quoted 2.8097 at 2.8117 - 20 pips. In comparison IG Markets offered the contract 3556 at 3560 (2.8090 at 2.8121 - 31 pips). So I'd be 11 pips better off with CMC!! I will look into structure of other transaction costs before...
