Fills On Limit Orders Above Inside Market

Thanks a lot for the help. I had been concerned to try it out in case I got filled at my limit price but I'll feel a lot more comfortable doing that now I know I'll just get filled at the inside market price. Thanks again.

Fills On Limit Orders Above Inside Market

When a stock is moving very fast I don’t feel comfortable entering a market order as it could result in me being filled well above where the price was at when I placed the order. I therefore always use limit orders but this can sometimes result in me missing a trade. I’ve often thought that...

Watch NASDAQ 100 or NASDAQ Composite For Intraday Market Direction?

Thanks for the advice. I think the NDX is the logical one but when I started trading I used the composite and haven't been able to stop looking at it. I still keep looking at the two, but I think I'll follow your advice and pick one (the NDX) and only use that from now on. Thanks again for...

Watch NASDAQ 100 or NASDAQ Composite For Intraday Market Direction?

If you mostly trade NASDAQ 100 stocks is it best to watch the NASDAQ 100 index or the NASDAQ composite for market direction? On the surface the 100 would seem the more logical but most people seem to use the Composite for market direction then it is likely the that Composite would lead the 100...

Where To Buy NASDAQ 100 Historical Time And Sales Data?

That's the one. I couldn't find it at all last night but found it first thing this morning. I don't think 3:00am was the best time to be looking for it. I don't know what I was searching for; probably total nonesnese. Thanks for the help.

Where To Buy NASDAQ 100 Historical Time And Sales Data?

I never was able to find historical time and sales data so I decided to go for the $500 1min candle CD. Sadly I’m now completely unable to locate the website which was selling the CDs. I’ve checked my history and searched endlessly but I can’t find it at all or any other site selling a similar...

Where To Buy NASDAQ 100 Historical Time And Sales Data?

Yes I think you’re right. I suppose I should test for a longer period. The best data I’ve found is seven years of 1min candle data CD for the NASDAQ 100 stocks, which is $500. Is that probably the best historical data I’m going to get? If so is $500 a reasonable price?

Where To Buy NASDAQ 100 Historical Time And Sales Data?

I probably wouldn't want to test for more than the last 2 or 3 years because the market was behaving very differently before then. As for a minimum I think a year would be more than sufficient.

Where To Buy NASDAQ 100 Historical Time And Sales Data?

Is there anywhere you can buy historical intraday time and sales data (including pre-market) for the NASDAQ 100 stocks along with intraday time stamped data for the NASDAQ? I wanted to back test a system but am having trouble finding anywhere that sells time and sales data. I’ve found places...

Retrieving Market Data For Automated Trading?

Thanks for the link to the math API. I’ll definitely make use of that, if not now in the future. I don’t directly consider candle stick formations in my current system but I may in a future system, so the functions for identifying formations would be very useful. That thread on automated...

Retrieving Market Data For Automated Trading?

Thanks a lot for that link. Looks like there’s a lot of good information which I’ll have a read through tomorrow. I had been considering how best to filter out some of the wild trades that go through but if I can get a data source that does it that would be very convenient. I’ll definitely...

Retrieving Market Data For Automated Trading?

Thanks theknifemac, I never thought of that. Looks like it's only $99 with MyTrack which would be reasnoable. I'll see what Genesis say (it looks like they have a more advanced API that you have to request and that isn't on the website) and if not I'll look into an alternative data source and...

Retrieving Market Data For Automated Trading?

Thanks for the reply. I’m with Genesis Securities (www.gndt.com). There’s a section on their website on automated trading as well as documentation for the APIs. If you look at the documentation all the functions are account related (logging in, placing orders, cancelling orders etc) and none...

Retrieving Market Data For Automated Trading?

I recently realised my day trading could be completed automated, probably with much better results than I get at the moment since the computer could handle far more trades at once and would be free from the psychological side of trading. My broker provides an API with functions for order...
