What Markets do Your Prefer to Trade?

Thanks for that. I actually searched and couldn't find one that had been done before.

Which is the easiest market to predict ?

I started another poll which in an around about way will probably get the answers you're looking for. http://www.trade2win.com/boards/general-trading-chat/44976-what-markets-do-your-prefer-trade.html

    Uk Trader of Nasdaq Stocks

Anyone recommend a suitable broker for trading Nasdaq stocks from the UK? IB seem to be the most likely candidate at the moment. Also can those in the know give me a quick run down of the tax situation with trading US stocks from the UK? i.e. capital gains. Thanks

Why do you trade lower time frames?

By lower time frames I mean 1 hour charts and below. In my (still limited) experience, price movements seem to conform to price targets (i.e support/resistance, fibs) set on 4 hour/daily and to a certain degree, weekly charts. The lower time frames seem to be a lot of smaller up/down movements...

    NYSE or Nasdaq?

If you were starting out swing trading equities, which market would you recommend to trade out of the NYSE and the Nasdaq? I'm based in the UK but am looking to start out with US stocks.

    Regular/Hidden Divergence

If you see price tracing lower lows and indicators tracing higher lows (regular bullish pattern), the assumption would be to look out to go long. But if this period of action also shows prices tracing lower highs and indicators tracing higher highs (hidden bearish continuation pattern), the...

    indicators that work

The trouble with divergence is that it can appear much earlier than the reversal. Take the graph above, divergence appears on the peak before those numbers, if you shorted here, you would likely get stopped out. How do you know at what peak divergence will actually result in a reversal?

    Trading Strategy Advice

This is similar to the conclusion I have drawn. I'm starting to view indicators as secondary tools for confirming a trade. To use them alone to build a successful mechanical system you'd have to play probablilities and enter every trade knowing that you HAVE to take everyone of them to catch...

    Trading Strategy Advice

So assuming this, would it not be advisable to stick to trading a very small handful of instruments and find a system for each or all, and adjust those systems as the behaviour of the instruments evolve? By doing so I expect your longevity in the market will be more than that of someone who...

    Trading Strategy Advice

When devising a trading strategy, is it reasonable not to expect the strategy to work across mulitple instruments and multiple time frames? I've just finished reading Way of the Turtle and the author believes that a true trading strategy should be able to do this. I'd like to hear other...

    UK v US

I currently use Pro Real Time for end of day charting. Its free for end of day, but you'll have to pay for intraday if you require it. Has all the charting tools you'll likely need and loads of other tools for technicals. I use ADVFN for news on stocks. Again free to subscribe and use the...

    UK v US

Thanks for the warning. I'm a beginnner. Paper trading right now, but am looking for at least 6 months to a year of researching specific stocks before getting seriously involved. I want to know the markets inside out and have begun following specific stocks daily, following fundamentals and...

    UK v US

Thanks for that detailed reply Richard. Very much appreciated. Although I won't be day trading, you've certainly made my mind up and I'll be adding some US stocks into my research. Any specific US stocks anyone particularly likes to follow? Also, DOW, NASDAQ or both? I've heard to steer clear...
