    Refco - Anyone Long?

I know Refco Capital Markets is illiquid b/c of this, but is RTS really closing up shop as well?

    Prop firm decision

Yes, I trade prop. in Chicago. I had a formal training program, it was worthless. I received far more useful information talking to a variety of already successful traders.

    Prop firm decision

From the description you have provided, I would go with the ex-Liffe locals. 1. There are more experienced traders there to learn from. 2. You'll be taught one on one with an experienced trader on a specific methodology - For the most part, I think formal training programs are garbage...

    Enigma Trading services

I don't know anything about this firm. There is however, nothing fishy about backing new traders and teaching or more accurately, letting them teach themselves how to trade with the firm's capital. It happens all the time. I'm not saying the firm is not fishy, I know nothing about them. I'm...

What has trading taught you about yourself?

I'm not good at moving on from losses. When I have a losing day, it bothers me until I have a winning day and makes me second guess all of my trades until then. I wish I could just forget about it and move on. I know losing days are unavoidable, but it still bothers me and usually ruins my...

Linda Bradford Raschke and ''Street Smarts''

Thanks Daxtrader. Definitely good advise coming from a three year veteran of trading the DAX/Stoxx.

Trader333 I also agree with you on this. You have develope your own intuition or you need the ability to develope your own trade set-ups that work for present market conditions. I think another problem with using other people's trade set-ups are that certain set-ups will have higher...

Linda Bradford Raschke and ''Street Smarts''

That's ironic that Mr Charts would say that because I'm based in the US and am interested in trading the some of the Eurex instruments, like the DAX and Bund. I trading job during US market hours so I only have time to trade for myself during non-US market hours. I was just looking through...

:cheesy: Turtle Soup plus One is a trade set-up discussed in LBR's book based on fading breakout signals on the assumption that breakouts fail more times than they succeed. The name comes from the Turtles, traders taught by Richard Dennis and his partner, who traded a famous breakout system...

    tick chart data feeds?

You're absolutely right. IB is the fastest feed out of all the choices mentioned, and very inexpensive if using IB/Sierra, but it doesn't provide data for backfills. So you don't have data for when the program is not on. Plus I don't have an IB account. :(

    tick chart data feeds?

Quotetracker is free with advertisements. You can also use Sierrachart with the IB feed. The only problem with IB feed is that it does not provide you with backfill data. So you will only have data for the times that your charting program has been on. The Mytrack Sierrachart combo is an...

    t/a and level 2

Interesting point. Actually, I wasn't challenging the validity of trading Naz's level 2 style. I'm new and I didn't know he was teaching a course.

    t/a and level 2

Sorry. Wasn't trying to be clever. Just thought I'd point out that there is a tool that exists that allows shorting on downticks that people might not be aware of. I think you are at a disadvantage if you don't use them or at least have them available to you. They are widely used by traders...
