    IG Index: Deal rejected

The problem with offering a controlled risk stop on something that volatile is that the cost of the stop would be more than anyone would willingly pay. Would you have traded it if the cost of the stop was 20%?

    IG Index: Deal rejected

You wouldn't be able to deal with a controlled risk stop DMA. Sounds like you can trade the stock without one with IG. Think you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Where did you find that they've been in business for a decade? Website seems to have created at the end of October this year. Just before you joined this site in fact.

what happens when a SB Firm goes bust

Details of new rules on FSA website http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/handbook/hb_notice104.pdf - paras 2.33 - 2.42 and 4.42 - 4.72 are the relevant sections. Basically, it enforces segregation for all retail clients, and ensures all balances (including margin) is segregated.

British Army Doctor to stock broker

Realistically, as an employer why should I pay you more than any other graduate? You have some experience, but nothing relevant to the financial industry. If you want to work in financial services, you need to look at what you can offer - frankly your experience is not relevant. If I wanted to...

what happens when a SB Firm goes bust

Re: what happens when a SP Firm goes bust Depends on whether your funds are segregated, and what your firm's definition of segregation is. Ideally, you want your cash and running profit segregated. Some firms try to get away with segregating cash - margin used, or just cash. Should be an FSA...

    CMC confusing me...

Your £10 stake should mean that if it moves from 1412.58 to 1413.58 and you bought, you would make £10. Does that tally with your opening and closing levels?

    UK Equivalent of Stockfetcher.com?

Saw a demo of Zignals which looked pretty similar, but didn't look into it in any detail. Might be worth a look though

    spreadbetting & calculations

Looks a bit ****, but not indefensible. Ask them for a time and sales chart showing the bid / offer when the position was filled. If it was trading at that price at teh time the trade was booked, then it is just tough luck - as long as IG have filled you promptly. I'm afraid opening on stop is...

    Legal

If you're in the UK and the broker is UK regulated, then giving him an instruction that he exectured would be binding. If he's outside the UK or operating without UK authorisation, then it can't be enforced.

Cash settlement of a future contract

You could have a look at ETFs that track the movement of an index if you want - http://uk.ishares.com/en/rc/funds/overview FTSE100, AEX, Mib, S&P etc all covered. If you're used to trading shares, you might feel more comfortable with these than a leveraged product (although you can trade most...

Cash settlement of a future contract

In the case of index futures, you can hold them until the expiry of the futures contract, at which time you will pay or be paid the difference between opening and closing values. However, when you're talking about cash settlement on a daily basis, I think you may be confusing settlement with...
