I am a 50 something IT executive that has always had an interest in all things financial. In fact for a very short period in my 20s I was a stock broker. Suffice it to say I was better with technology than sales and moved on to a successful career in industry. Unfortunately my career did not allow me time to trade. As such, my investing has been mostly buy and hold of stocks and mutual funds with a few speculative trades based on tips or news - I know, not very wise. After suffering material losses with the dot.coms and the more recent financial debacles, I have decided to dedicate the time necessary to improve my results and have started to get serious about educating myself. In studying books on investing and following a few financial websites, I have seen the Market Wizard series of books by Jack Schwager recommended by a number of people. After reading the first Market Wizards book, I am very motivated to learn more about trading and have dedicated a small portion of my capital to get started with trading. My goal is for the small pool of capital to get much larger and to possibly trade my own account full-time when I retire.
