    Help needed re Interactivebrokers

sidinuk Point taken (excuse the pun) . I did in fact phone IB and they said that they only accept payment via CHAPS, therefore I will most probably now use this method of payment, after having changed my mind two or three times over this matter. Have accordingly increased my funding so it...

Oatman From what I understand reading interactivebrokers notice on 'sending funds addresses' SWIFT is generally required for wires originating outside the UK. Many thanks for all your replies. Mike

    Help needed re Interactivebrokers

Thanks Peter & Paul I now feel that a BACS payment is the answer. However, with the RBS they only appear to use BACS for business customers. Have now opened an account with EGG where you can easily transfer funds via BAC online.Have been meaning to open an account with EGG anyway because of the...

    Help needed re Interactivebrokers

GreyingSurfer Phoned ANL today and whilst they said you can make a CHAPS payment online there would still be a £20 charge. Perhaps they have waived the charge for you as you are a long and valued customer ? Mike

    Help needed re Interactivebrokers

Many thanks Peter and DaxTrader for your prompt and helpful replies - I nearly called you CHAPS ! Think my best course of action in the circumstances is to open an internet account with ANL as my bank RBS charges £20 a go -which does seem rather excessive. Also I cannot do this thru the internet...

Dax Trader Sorry to hear that you thought you were on the wrong thread - my apologies. Please refer to my reply to rossored for explanation. I had a feeling that I would get my fingers burnt in mentioning candles or candlesticks. Would like to say more but better leave it to another thread

rossored As you may remember when I first commented on your initial post about wolf waves I just happened to mention that your candle chart also had quite a good candlestick pattern. This promptly resulted in two posts about candlesticks which I replied to as a matter of courtesy. This did not...

    selling put options

Mr Charts Please feel rest assured that I myself have no intention at this stage of starting to trade options. I'll certainly read the book you recommend. I am very risk adverse so I would not go into anything as risky as this without proper research and study.

barjon I agree that the patterns you find useful are also good. I really mentioned all this with tongue in cheek. However, even if it is a reversal lasting only for a few days it is better than nothing. Similarly a trend can be short-lived whether up or down. Nice to see that somebody else is...

dsmodi A good example would be HBOS on 29th January this year when their was a hammer bottom and bullish engulfing. The price at the hammer was 518 which rose to 812 0n 19th June. I hope you have easy accress to this chart. If not I'll email you a copy. Had intended to include chart but having...

    selling put options

Osho67 Many thanks for starting this interesting thread which is becoming quite informative. I would be interested to know whether you have sometimes used options as a cheap way of purchasing shares ? Which broker or brokers do you use and have you ever used a self-advisory broker ? I think...

Rossored your Wolfe Wave indicating a reversal is further confirmed when using candlestick chart analysis. That this is a reversal is backed-up by the lowest candle and the the candle following, The lowest candle which I think you can just get away with being called a hammer (the stem must be a...

    Stop Loss

If you use Halifax as your broker you presumably deal in uk/european stock in the main. If this is so you could use com.direct who I find quite good. There is no annual charge and there is no charge for a stop loss or for stop buys, sell limits or buy limits for that matter. There is currently...
