    Qualifications

Depends what you want to do. If you want to work in fund management then the CFA is the one to aim for. If you want to be a trader/market maker in a bank or a broker at an IDB then you only need your SII exams. Why spend more money if you dont need to!

    Do I have a chance?

I think you have a good chance of getting a good job at a good institution. Most banks/IDB's say that they like grads from any background not just maths. The fact that you have showed the dedication and intelligence to get a Phd will appeal to a lot of recruiters. Also, the average age of junior...

Loads of my mates are accountants at large accounting firms or big multinational companies. They are more stressed out, more miserable and a lot worse paid than anyone I know who is a trader.

my opinion as someone who has worked for an IB and as a prop trader is dont bother going to an arcade. You dont get paid, the odds say you wont make money, they give you no transferrable skills and when you leave you'll end up having to go back to being in the back office job in a bank anyway...

    What possibilties do I have.....?

yeah I mean the securities institute exmas. Unit 1, the Financial Regs paper, is compulsory and then its probaly easiest to thake unit 4 which is the Securities & Financial Derivatives paper. Once you have done those you can undertake advising on investment and dealing with clients in securities...

    What possibilties do I have.....?

I am in exactly the same situation as you. I have been trading my own account for 2 years but have decided to call it a day. What I would say to you is that you shouldnt give up on your dream. Prop trading at an arcade is very different to trading at a bank/hedge fund. I have several mates who...
