I worked out the monthly 'returns' using the 'close' values of the FTSE 100 index and this is what i got. but looking at them they dont mean anything to me....

I have calculated the % returns for a few months and am not sure what i am looking at. The figures that i have are as follows: 0.64% 0.71% 1.37% 1.98% Regards

Hi, I am doing an assignment on the FTSE 100 for my course and have come to a dead on on the following question. I am hoping someone would be able to shed some light to me. I need to show how to use the 'close' values in order to calculate the monthly 'returns' values of the FTSE 100 index...
