Practicalities and philosophy of trading from a profitable trader

Actually I don't think a quick look at forex factory will tell you anything about 'news.' And I really don't think 'price tells all' but I've already gone on about that at length.

Yes, Bruce Loco is correct, I am looking at fundamental basis of supply and demand in the news (summating the total picture of 'news', not individual items of news or individual calendar events). I disagree with Sam Seiden because I don't think you can see supply and demand in the chart.

Charting Part 9 - Press descriptions of charts and technical analysis. Many articles I have read or which I notice in the corner of my eye have attributed a nature or a personality to a pair. Some have gone so far as to say that a certain pair 'has a rhythm' and to trade successfully you just...

Charting Part 8 - Other predictive indicators There are many other predictive indicators that I have not covered. This includes volume, moving averages, pivot points, trendlines, fibonacchi lines and many other trading tools that some traders use. With all these tools before you look at them...

Charting Part 7 - Trends on the chart One of the most often heard trading mantra's is 'trade with the trend.' If you are not trading with the trend, then you are 'picking tops and bottoms.' Sound advice but it is often difficult to interpret (for very good reason). In fact, I would argue that...

Charting Part 6 (overbought and oversold) Another common use of the chart is to see whether a currency/stock etc is overbought or oversold. Some people base this on indicators, some people just think that going up or down X amount of pips is too much, or some people's positions might just be...

Hi, I was going to go over how I approach trading, but I became a bit sidetracked. I don't think that it is possible to learn through just a couple of systems, which is the point I was getting at. I don't think that S/R is rubbish, I actually wrote a post (although I must have forgotten/been...

Charting Part 5 One of the first things I looked at when I looked at a chart, and I expect a lot of people look at was indicators. A lot of people think that they are the worst thing ever, and that they are meaningless, but I think they are undervalued. Of course, they have their weaknesses...

Charting (more) Looking at the charts one of the most popular 'indicators' is support and resistance. As I've emphasised I only trade what makes logical sense. I don't trade random 38% fib lines or GMT pivot lines because there I don't think I can attribute any real reason why they should be...

Hi, not really been keen on posting since I received some nasty private messages - I think if it continues after this post then I will stop posting altogether as its not that enjoyable to receive those kind of messages. Depending on the response I will continue/desist. I've also been spending...

Practicalities and philosophy of trading from a profitable trader

I have actually already provided a lot of practical information. Its interesting that some people regard tips such as ensuring you have enough equity to trade is regarded as philosophical as opposed to practical. Since someone mentioned lets talk about candlesticks: They are one of the tools...

The classic highly constructive Magaluti again! Note that I termed the last section Part 1 being the important section. If you read again the post about the professional forex trader, I was referring to professional forex trader in a blog who made the assumptions about the head and...

Its not actually - trading is not just maths - there are a lot more factors (obviously some fundamentals are some of these factors) - but technical trading needs to be backed up with maths. You say its obvious, but how many retail traders you know of actually have a robustly tested method...

Technical analysis is not carried out properly by many traders nor is it taught properly. Speculation 7 So I have gone on at length about why traditional charting is fairly useless. This extends to teaching, and forex blogs. Sorry for labouring the point (I might be repeating the same points...

Unfortunately no, it still drops. I am glad you enjoy it - btw, its interesting that you mention you find the psychology interesting because I don't think I have mentioned psychology! (Unless I have a bad memory which is possible) I think I have just mentioned time and equity management along...
