    The first volume value of the day on an intraday chart is always very large in comparison to the folllowing bars. It does not apear to relate to the open interest, - is it just a wopping large trade at the open? D.

    I suspect you have jumped the gun and the line is not connected yet. I was told mine would be connected on a Tuesday. Thought I'd configure the router on the Friday before in order to have everything ready to go and was shocked when it sprang into life 4 days early!

    The FTSE ( and I assume you mean the Futures) is very good at the open and into the morning. The afternoon is a little unpredicable. In my opinion the cash index is untradable on its own. You may be able to trade it off the futures, but CFDs and spread-betting spreads make this an unprofitable...
