    ArcelorMittal up 200% !

OK, but I must add that I get alerts on my mobile from IG (don't really want them, but when I set up an app so I could look at my open positions, in the morning I often get "company x up 5%" or whatever.) On that morning it said "ArcelorMittal up 197%" Anyway I guess I could ask IG themselves...

    ArcelorMittal up 200% !

Hi cbrads Thanks for the link, that's what I was looking for. But I still don't get it. (Sorry but as I say I'm not an expert, I'm just trying out a few spread bets on IG.) If we held shares in this company, then after the reverse split we would have less shares of higher value = same total...

    ArcelorMittal up 200% !

Hi guys, thanks for the replys. You should be able to see the same chart a me - its ArcelorMittal (NL) My chart is from ProRealTime, on some charts it seems to just show as a jump. Anyway, I can see how a share could be worth a few pence, increase a few pence and consequencely double. but this...

    ArcelorMittal up 200% !

Hi, thought I would start a new thread on this, hope you can see the chart clearly. I was actually long on this a few days before. Has anyone seen a major share like this triple like this before? Anyone know why this happened? As I understand the earnings report was days before. Nothing much...

Reliability of End Of Day Prices?

Just to add to this thread that the share I was looking at in particular was AcellorMittal. You know what happened? Yesterday it rose 200% in 1 day. Never seen a chart like it before. Anyone else noticed it? If so does anyone know anything avout the reasons why. Not much in the news for that day.

Reliability of End Of Day Prices?

I see what you mean. The price is only what someone is willing to buy at or sell at. But I will try to screenshot at least one later to illustrate a very large variance.

Reliability of End Of Day Prices?

Thanks for the reply... I think that the larger the spread of a share, the greater the EOD price variance can be. And I think it can change a view of price action, if we are trying to use set rules to determine whether to close or reverse a trade. As for IG and ProRealTime, if they use the...

Reliability of End Of Day Prices?

Hi, I am quite new to spread betting shares, and I like to review my positions after end of day. I assume this is what a lot of other people do. But I find it confusing that the CLOSE price of a share can be quoted a different wherever you look. You can even have a position with IG, be in loss...

    Move to Break-even.

Thanks for the replies, this has made for an interesting thread. on Barjon - you have hit upon a good point. I like to look at my end of day charts in the evening (after I hold down the day job) so can't close the positions after trading has closed. But I could have 2 positions with 1 that has...

    Move to Break-even.

Hi, yes the method is clear, but I trade with IG and cannot see how to close half the trade. On the ticket I have options to close or edit, but cannot see how to partially close. Sorry!

    Move to Break-even.

Cheers guys, sorry to be slow OldNoob, but when you say "close half your position", does that entail opening 2 identical positions at entry, and then closing one of them when you want to? I like this idea and just want to make sure I would be doing it right.

    Move to Break-even.

Hi, I have started to dabble in spread-betting major shares on daily charts, and am happy with where I enter a bet. My problem comes with how to manage the bet. Very often, at the end of day, I may be a small number of points to the good, say 1 or 2. My stop-loss will be much further away from...

Is it possible to do this?

I have read in more than one trading book that it is " a good idea to move your stop-loss to break-even as soon as the market moves your way." This is discretionary, right? I mean, a few points, half ATR, ?? But that is another question. Anyway, if we are not at the screen all day, but...

    Fine Tuning A Method.

Enlightened Joe - Best thing to do maybe is to have a definite take profit line. People on the right side would surely profit if, say, they had 1:1 profit:loss ratio, not trying for the bigger and bigger profits. I Feel Free - Is there an easier way to backtest rather than to trawl through...
