thanks rednite...
I think you are right. the temptation to overtrade is so easy... I think what really worked for me when i was on "the edge" was that I was taking things one step at a time and not rush. i think I can't decide whether i want to be a swing trader or day trader... i often...
Thank you so much for your post dbphoenix, it's beautifully written and very precise!
I appreciate your insight so much.
Hope you all have a Happy New Year!
It's silly to look back in hindsight now. In your opinion, what is the best way to trade? Buy and hold? or day trade? My personal preference is to swing trade... but then again, I could be wrong.
Do you guys have the link to learners center from this site? I would love to learn from all...
In response to dbphoenix question, because of BIDU. I placed a market order on BIDU that one morning when it was $347. The price then climbed to $350 and I did not put a stop on time. It then plummetted to $300 within 45minutes and my market orders did not execute.
It's not so much that...
Thanks RichieE,
I have already read Trading in the Zone. it's a very very good book. Unfortunately, it came to me at a very late time. Even if I did read it before the accident, I would've forgotten all about it. Just as i am looking at Trading in the Zone again. Everything is in black...
I can't trade even if I want to. I will stand aside and watch the market. In a way it's good because the market's pretty crappy right now.
My problem right now is in not being able to pull the trigger in shorting. No matter how clear the signal is or how much I want to, i can't pull the...
I really want to appreciate this thread. Makes me wonder if you guys can shed some light on selling.
I think my problem isn't in pulling the trigger. it's in knowing when to sell. I don't really have a predetermined sell point or stop loss point. I just have a rule that i won't allow...
Been trading for a year. I can't begin to tell you how true this is. it is the mentality that you are going to make it back and not pulling the trigger when necessary. It is you who are the sabotaging everything.
Thanks guys. I know about the risk management. I guess what clouded my thinking is that my stops tend to be hit very often in the beginning and that causes me to be out of the market fairly quite often.
With regards to not respecting risk management. "i don't think anyone would want to lose...
I know a lot of you guys are thinking that I am crazy. Perhaps I am. I only wrote here to share with you my experience as a trader and how I had sabotage my own account by overtrading. I did not ask for sympathy or anything. Just thought you guys might be able to shed some light if you had...
I've started trading at the beginning of this year. I followed all the rules all the recommendations from the books i've read. I was in the zone... so to speak.
At first, it was tough, I started out with $20000 in my account. That was wiped out.
Then, I borrowed $50000 to trade in my...
