Some of the small UK stocks have quite a large spread. I read somewhere a while ago that the spread changes during the day, for example could be wide during the morning and narrow near the close. Is there any truth in this, does the spread change like this during the trading day?

yea that's what i was thinking, but i sold a CALL on BP ADR for $46 a couple of weeks ago and BP went over $46 yesterday but the option wasn't exercised as I thought it would be.

If I sell a CALL at a strike of $46 for a premium of $1 at what price would the option be typically exercised, $46 or $47?

For US stocks trading <$50 usually the option strike prices go in $1 increments. But I've noticed some, e.g. DNKN which is currently at around $25, has $2.5 and $5 increments for the strike price. any idea why it's different?

i'm wondering what is the typical spread for ZB, the 30year T-bond? With the spread betters the spread is usually 6-9 so its not so good for day trading.

the closest you'll probably find is euroclear.com, click on 'stock loan data' under services. But only monthly data is free. The website makes a point of saying that 'stock loan data' is not the same as 'short interest', but as i say it's probably the nearest you'll find.

I've used MATLAB for engineering work, not any financial stuff. It is very expensive though. You can search for Scilab, I believe it's free and takes the same commands as MATLAB. So you can try it out..

Thanks but it doesn't seem to be related to that button. What I do is select "Tools->ReaL time chart" and then "Display->Proscreener". The drop-down list is empty then every time i log back in and i have to write the screen again to make it appear in the list. I think it might jsut be a...
