    Put backspread

Thanks I was talking about a bull put backspread. Looking back I have actually constructed it wrong - I should have bough the lower strike put (4800) and sold the higher strike put ( 5100). As long as ftse stayed above 5100 at expiry i would have made money. Correct ?

When I have learned options theory and strategies...

If you have never traded before - then trade first ! Get used to the volatility of markets and understand where to trade and when. Options are a world of their own - they often trade like assets on their own right, in addition to the underlying. If you are not used to trading the underlying...

    cost of trading options

Hi I mean retail obviously, like optionsexpress , odl etc. Just spoken to a charles schwab broker who says $8.95 online fee + $0.75 per contract. So with 1 contract , if buying 1 call/put just below $20. Ok. But then I asked him to check the 1200 Oct strike for SnP ( very close to expiry)...

    Put backspread

I think the next section in the book deals with the ratio vertical spread......this is about the put and call backspread.... Is this book not meant to be the bible for option traders ? When my cousin worked for UBS they made him read this and learn the greeks inside out first few...

    Put backspread

Thanks for all the replies. What Dommo says makes perfect sense. What is confusing me is why Natenberg adovocates this in his book as a put back spead. He writes and I quote page 139 : A put backspread consists of long puts at a lower exercise price and short puts at a higher exercise price...

Thank you all comrades. Automation is a possibility but my edge actually is watching my market and getting to know it really well. Tragically, this also means I take profits too quickly. Forker - interesting name, you american ? Your advice resonates strongly withing me - this being a natural...

    Confession

Hi I used to make good money trading. My methods were very simple - look at the daily and 1hr chart, identify the broad trend then wait for retracements to appropritate supp/res to get an entry. Often I look at the moving averages, esp the 21/50 dma`s. I made money last year when I followed...

Re: Wallstreet1928 Analysis & live calls on FTSE,DAX,S&P...aimed to help New traders Like the Dax analysis - lurched down at the open today but got stuck at daily pivot. I am long from 41 target 60s - taken 2/3 at 55. Also long FTSE from 5618 - hopefully making double bottom as crude reclaims...

The Book that changed my trading ........

Guys No book will ever make you a competent trader. Only you can make yourself a competent trader. Follow someone else`s rules and you are bound to fail - unless those rules suit your personality. This last bit is the most important stuff for discretionary traders. Even automated traders tinker...

    Need advice from fellow traders

A lot of it depends on what stage of trader you are trying to get. If its experienced people and you want to sell them hi freq stuff then get speakers who do automated strategies etc. But since you have posted here I doubt that is the case. SO be clear about your audience. Beginners are the...
