    SII Certs

I agree, units 1 and 4. Spend a couple of weeks going through unit 1, then sit the exam (basically a memory test of regulations), then start studying unit 4, and learn about all the basic options/ futures, etc positions and markets applicable to the UK... If you really need/ want to push...

    Who uses Bloomberg professional?

I think you are correct here. One guy in the office has bloomie (the one who creates a fuss until he gets his own way) and so we are getting a slave off him for breaking economic data in the meantime... better than nothing. However, its not a very professional solution for a company that wants...

    Who uses Bloomberg professional?

I agree you do not need to it make money but I believe it does help to make more informed decisions. In addition to breaking economic news, I could do with it for research (as I produce a daily economic analysis for my company) and like to try to follow what is going on elsewhere too (swaps...

    Who uses Bloomberg professional?

We don't have any source for breaking economic news, except Bloomberg TV - which is always about 2-3 secs late (by which time the market has made a fair amount of its move!) ... its an absolute joke... I was told that "we do not trade like that" ie. trade off the back of numbers... we are...

    Who uses Bloomberg professional?

Just wondering how many people in Banks/ Funds use Bloomberg for their data feed, analysis, etc. I am a junior prop trader for a fund and have my own CQG but have been trying to get a Bloomie between the desk (3 of us). The company are adammant they will not pay up for it which is really...

    Are grad programs worth it??

I think you will find at least 9 out of 10 of them will not make any money. I was on a course last week and there were arcade traders on it (I dont know why?) but anyway, they all thought that they were going to be really successful and make loads of money..... maybe one of them will, but in...

    SII Exams and Employment

These companies are very good, but I suppose it depends on how much you already know and also how hard you are prepared to work. I would focus on doing the FSA one as I found Eurex to be ten times harder. I don't think you need Eurex unless you are actually trading Euro products for a big bank...

    SII Exams and Employment

I got my material for the exams from 7city (www.7city.com)... I did it as a grad a few years ago and the company paid... Id imagine if you email the SII they would tell you how to access study materials... By getting the SII exams under your belt you are showing you are keen to get into the...

    Eurodollar Flys

Yes, some of the fly's are trading at highs but thats because they have a directional element to them and I'm sure you will have noticed the direction of the market outrights has largely been downwards! You could look to sell the highs (on a technical basis) but my guess is that these fly's will...

Impact of disasters on interest rates

Also buy calendars, ie H5H6 or M5M6 as front end will rally harder than mid curve... implying nearer term rate cuts more aggressive
