Hi guys, i guess its a good idea to take real examples of where to put the Stop Losses. I just posted the Nas, Dow, EuroStoxx and Dax (5y, 3y, 1y, 6mon, 6 mon and 1 mon) charts and in some charts you can not only see but "feel" which lines should not break...

Could you also help the Dow to climb the 13000 points wall? He´s in desperate need...

That surely is a good technique but it requires a lot of discipline. And often discipline is what´s missing... well, many of my loss trades are a result of a lack of discipline. Example: quick trades against the major trend. :(

Today crude oil gave us a perfect example for the necessity of stop loss orders: 1) After the bullish trend lost its momentum crude came back from 102 USD to 99 USD 2) I bet a lot of traders were short (well, at least I was; see my posted trades...) 3) Then, out of the nothing, the trend changed...

Yep, my strategy is that you just have to wrestle many of them. One of them might come back out but you can still say you won against the rest :-)

Hi Patrick, do you have retail listed structured products in South Africa (certificates, derivatives)? If you´re going for options you might like the discount call and discount put way of entering this area... less risky than plain vanillas.
