What else to do to AVOID this?

Try waiting until you get daily / weekly PA in the direction you want to trade in. Don't try and pick tops or bottoms on a H4 chart using moving averages. Toss out all the indicators and look for areas of price history or swing points.

Trading Forex through a spread betting account: is it advisable?

How about a bit of both? Day trading using the ECN for as your primary day to day income (subject to CGT or income tax) and some gambling positions through the SB. I would be very doubtful that would land you in trouble but who knows? As for execution, speads, requotes etc, there's a noticable...

Anyone scalping the GBPUSD, EURUSD etc??

Some EU scalps from Friday using a combination of M5 and M1. Mostly just following price using supply and demand levels, momentum and PA..

    FP Markets

Sign up page gone and not answering emails, doesn't sound promising...

    City Index MT4

GKFX are fine for intra day holds and swings but definitely not suitable for any sort of scalping due to long execution delays and dreaded requotes. On the plus side withdrawals and deposits are lightning fast. I was having a look at ETX's new MT4 offering but 2 points on DAX?

    Intertrader

I actually didn't get anywhere with InterTraderDirect (Gibraltar) since they wanted to charge 2% on both deposits and withdrawals after their page was down for 2 weeks.. They also wrote to clients confirming USD denominated accounts would be converted to sterling and that pricing would change...

    City Index MT4

I would give it a blast but not sure if this is actually a spread betting product? Seems to be just standard FX account.

Well it depends on how beneficial the tax free aspect of the spread betting is to you. ;) I'm ok with the spreads (even if commission is built into them). I'm seeing the same spread on GBPUSD with LMAX but they charge commission on top. EU is consistently below 1 pip and mostly around 0.8...

    Intertrader

They don't charge any on spread bets, which is why I was asking what the catch is. This is from the website. Forex "CFDs: commission per trade; spread betting: charge included in spread"

    Intertrader

Nope this is the Intertrader Direct version. No comms on forex spread bets. Not too sure about CFD's since I don't trade them but I'm sure it's covered in the spread? Spreads are variable on Direct but fixed on the standard Intertrader platform.

    Intertrader

Well I've demo'd Intertrader Direct and opened up a live account. Live feed is identical to demo and pretty snappy from what I've seen. You can certainly scalp on it. Far better than the clunky requote or off quote GKFX or FXCM feeds and nice low spreads (EU under 1 consistently and GU hovering...

    Intraday forex trades/daily percentage targets.

Sure it is if you manage to catch a low risk runner. It also depends on how many trades you take. You could take 5 x 1% risk entries taking 1/1 risk reward. If all winners then you'll bring home +5%.

    What's happened to LMax's spreads?

Still seeing strange action on GBPUSD. Very strange regular spread spikes going up to 1.4 or 1.7 and then dropping back down again. Strange since EURUSD seems fairly stable at between 0.1 and 0.6 I've been demo'ing ICMarkets and getting decent execution and low spreads. Of course I'll need to...

    What's happened to LMax's spreads?

I'm with you on this. 1.5 - 2.0 pips is pretty standard on GU so 1.3 plus comms isn't that attractive considering. If they can bring spreads back consistently under 1.0 I'll be happy with em.

    What's happened to LMax's spreads?

Spreads are much better today. EU hovering between 0.2 and 0.3 and GU mostly between 0.6 and 1.0
