    Having looked back through my records I've proffited several times from spikes. I would however add that two of my bigger losses were also caused by spikes.

    FWIW, I believe that a pure trader needs to be "amoral". After all, the market is. Look at the effects of "Black Wednesday", which lasted for years. Dissapearing jobs, negative equity, Portfolio values decimated, pension funds bleeding. Simply because a number of speculators saw an opportunity...
