First attempt 1991 - 1992: traded forex options on the Philly, watching Soros cane the BoE. Fundamental analysis if any. Blew my capital.
Second attempt 1997 - 1998: traded the bund with a mechanical system, bottled it. Didn't have much capital anyway.
Third attempt: 2008 - 2011. More mechanical trading. More capital, more computer power, better platform. Ran out of money for food.
Fourth attempt: 2013. Discretionary day trading, using break-out strategies. Got half-way through trading capital and all the way through day-to-day living expenses fund.
Fifth attempt: will be trading part-time so that income for living does not deplete to the point of stopping play. Also taking psychology course to allow me to determine state of own sanity.

- If you are immortal and the only way you can die is to be struck by lightning, then you will die by being struck by lightning.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.
