Did anyone see Question Time last night?
Yvette Cooper was telling people that the new leglislation announced y'day by Harriet Harperson to give preference to women and ethnic minorities was about benches.
Yes, it is about encouraging local councils to think about whether there are elderly folk who might like a bench next to a bus stop.
They think we are all stupid.

Give us a birthday prezzie Gordon: Go!

Socialism is all about dragging everybody down to the same level thus we all become equal.

The new workplace equality legislation just legalises what's been going on in some quarters for a while. Whatever happened to merit and ability ? - can never understand why it's ok in football but not in education and politics.

This government is the pits.

Personally I hope he stays so that it will be a complete certainty that this government will soon be gone.

I despise nazis and their fellow travellers.

If you meant, Home Rule for England, that's very different

Me too. Nazi's IMO = Not good.

Home rule for England however, sounds like a good idea.
Far better than the current state of play which is seeing the ongoing process of handing over all the nations sovereignty to the EU dictatorship.

Why can't Labour have real people (female division) in their party?
Why the clones Smith, Hewitt, Hodge, Cooper, Primarolo, smiling lying twisting canines (female division) and the leaders of the pack Flint and Blears?
How do they manage to be emetics and laxatives at the same time?

If you mean BNP, i did read their manifesto a few years back and was surprised how "reasonable" it all sounded, compared to what i had imagined it would read like - based on their media image.

I liked their proposal to give people guns...

What we need in Britian is a proper libertarian party.

I agree, but sadly we are moving in the opposite direction to a libertarian society. Big government/dictatorships tend to like to control the population as much as possible - its what they do.

Whatever for? This is not a rerun of the French or American revolutions.

It is a nonsense to talk about a free people preserving their liberty with guns.
Any armed group challenging the authority of the modern state will almost
certainly be squashed like ants.

It's still my ambition to found my own country... I think that's the best approach as to be honest most Brits don't want a libertarian country, more a communitarian one and if that's how they want it then only fair to let them live in their own desired squalor

You can easily fund it on sex and drug tourism, as well as a liberal attitude to medical experimentation. The main problem is getting the land unclaimed by someone else... best way to do that is to buy a country somewhere in the pacific imo.

I agree, but in the UK who would do the squashing?
The armed forces are all in Iraq & Afghanistan, the police are all filling in forms and Health and Safety don't allow them into crime prevention or detection without Risk Assessment panels sitting for several months first.

Oh, of course - I forgot the traffic wardens, feared by all.

Tiny Shetland island declares independence - Yahoo! News UK

How do you know?
I'd have thought most Brits were in favour of being able to run their own lifes without govt. sticking their noses into every aspect of it.

I'm all for letting people have private armies if they like... I have a fairly extreme position ;)
