The "less is more" approach (or KISS, keep it simple, Stupid!) is one I try to follow in many areas of study, but it's very easy to get bogged down in too much detail.

Then, in my opinion, you are in the right track.... just try to focus on that, as it is right what you say about it is so easy to fall for the whole bunch of distracting things into trading...
