There are many UK regional accents. The major ones i could think of are within the poll. However, regional accents exist within these regional accents. For example, Yorkshire has something like 32 recognised seperate regional accents of its own....

Do a poll for least favourite too and see the convergence/divergence :)

You missed out Estuary and Urban/Ali G :)

Yes - a few notable ommissions are Leicestershire & Cheshire

The Essex one could/should perhaps IMO be changed to -
Home counties/South East (Essex, Kent, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire).

If there is a willing Mod on hand, to make these 3 changes, it would be appreciated :) .

I tend to like most UK accents (except Brummy  ).
For me, It depends a lot on the person speaking it. If its a hot young girl, pretty much anything will sound nice to me.

I have a Yorkshire accent, but i prefer the Geordie accent above all other UK accents, as i think it tends to sound more fun, interesting etc.

Some Scottish accents are also very nice IMO- especially when spoken by young hotties ;) .

A soft, female Scottish accent would be most likely to turn me on (when I was 50 years younger). I have to wait for the weather forecast, these days

I see JT and I have similar tastes. ;)

I'm off for a kipper tie.

Absolutely. I was in Scotland in September, notably Aberdeen & Inverness, and the Scottish accent when spoken by young hotties (there did seem like a high proportion who fit into this category - must be the cleaner air ;) ) is definately appealing, very fresh and natural sounding :) .

I've never heard a hot brummy girl speaking in person. On TV, i can only think of Cat Deeley, and she's not really my type. If i did hear one in person, i'd imagine it would be perfectly OK :) .

The factors determining whether i like/pay attention to an accent or not then seem to be -
Physical attraction & personality.
If i can tick both boxes, the accent is probably going to blend into the background, but if i can't tick both boxes, the accent might become more noticable.

there is a term for goodbye in the Midlands here that goes "tarrar-a-bit", which always makes me smile.
funnily, many people tell me that I dont sound like the locals, even though I grew up in t'Wolverhampton.
I try to explain thats because my accent is "educated". Doesnt go down too well.
