We've updated the Site Guidelines with a new rule that email addresses and websites may not be used as members' usernames. The rationale behind this is to a) prevent free advertising of websites in the username, and b) protect members email addresses, as often new members mistakenly use them for their username.

Those usernames that do not comply with this update to the rules will be updated tomorrow, at which time affected members will be notified by Private Message. In most cases we've just removed .com or @whatever.com etc. from the username, and in cases where this causes a conflict with an existing username we've added a 1 on the end. If this does affect you please make a note of what you are now logged in as and remember in future to log in with this username. If you are unhappy with the updated username, you can email [email protected] with your preferred choice and we may update it.

Also, we're not preventing usernames that use .com, .co.uk, .net and @ from registering - which should help to ensure compliance with the new rules.

Regards,
