I am doing some work on daily currency ranges and am a little puzzled on what time frame encompasses a daily range?
Is it from 0.00 gmt 23.59 if you are trading the euro/gb or chf?
or is it from 8 am to 7 pm gmt.
or is it from the Asian close/european open to european close asian open

The data I've got from disk trading has it's daily bars for all currencies in EST and they close at 23:59.

Previously I'd thought of a day as GMT 00:00 - GMT 23:59 but that's because I'm in England rather than because I've seen any data that is presented in that way.

I think it might vary from one data supplier to another but I'm not sure.

I see, quite often I read that the Asian session did such and such and the european session closed positive etc blah, blah..You also see a bust of activity around 8 am gmt. now somewhere along the line there should be some sort of official close for London etc like the stock market. I know the Bank of England sets official rates 3 or 4 times during the day I wonder if the last price set is some sort of official close.anyone know any more about this?

What, I am working on is the daily range of a currency between trading hours, for e.g the range of gb/usd during the european sesson is roughly 160 odd pips.
So give or take 15 to 20 odd pips is not here or there.
