I began trading futures on the Chicago and New York exchanges in 1983. Like most, I gradually lost money for the first decade while learning by trial and error. Fortune smiled in the early 1990s when I came across a broker/mentor in Chicago who offered his clients a strategy for trading futures. The strategy turned out - for me and others like me - to be one that made all the difference. Based on real statistical principles rather than the "sheep entrails" methods I had previously used, it made me a consistent winner.
Nowadays I trade only in fits and starts because I'm deeply involved in not-for-profit charities work
