    VDM Gekko Gobal market Complaint

Just to clarify, if volatility calls for 40 ticks stop, I'd aim for 120 ticks profit target. If such a profit potential doesn't exist, it doesn't make sense to enter into the trade.

    VDM Gekko Gobal market Complaint

Love Arabianights' response!!Lol! My honest opinion is, trading with 40 ticks stop and 40 ticks profit target will not make you any money in the long term. I'd trade ideas with potential reward:risk ratio higher than 3.

    Lmax

LMAX is a completely misleading concept. Veteran traders will stay with IG alike and see no benefit for switching. Amateur traders may enjoy the novelty for a while, but will eventually come to their senses that losing on 'your own exchange' is after all, losing.

    Throwing in the towel

RM686 - nice to meet you here. I'm a non-believer in 'the ultimate strategy'. In fact, personally I don't think it matters what strategy or TA a trader uses, so long as he is comfortable with it - if not, subconsciously the trader will always tend to self-contradict and this will almost...

    ODL taken over by FXCM

I think the bottom line is FXCM lost money in its EU expansion and they now want to take over ODL's EU client base. Fact. I was curious in the details of the deal, because there would have been some overlapping between FXCM and ODL client base. For example, if ODL claims it had 100K clients I...

    ODL taken over by FXCM

Just look at London Capital Group's share price - it was offered below £1 yesterday! I don't remember their IPO price but it's pretty close to that.

CMC Left Out in the Cold

Interesting find, Jack. I'm seeing a lot more advertising in papers/online from City Index and IG this year. CMC splashed out a hugh amount of money on the whole james nesbitt IQ thing. I've read a recent report somewhere that IG has close to 50% market share now. I wonder if one day a cash...

    Capital Spreads profit down 46%

I think Tradefair is one of those deals where CS leases the platform technology to a 3rd party partner that already has license to conduct their own SB business such as Betfair. Straightly speaking this is a lease arrangement not a white label. Prospreads is just another brand held by CS.

    Capital Spreads profit down 46%

DK about that - unlike Lloyds CS didn't have to take over any rubbish firm!! I recall IG's UK growth last year was about 4%. SB firms will have to expand to overseas to maintain the good old 40% plus annual growth. CS's portfolio is pure UK I believe. High cost, low growth and occasional bad...

    Capital Spreads profit down 46%

I believe the phrase 'white label' simply refers to branding - for example, CS gives Etrade customers a spread betting product under the 'Etrade' brand, but if you read the small print it will say 'Etrade blah blah is a trading name of London Capital Group authorized by the FSA blah blah'...

    Capital Spreads profit down 46%

Hey Jack - I'd been off this forum for a couple of months only - how on earth did you get in 325 posts?! mate that's impressive!! The press release cites 'high costs' i wonder if it refers to the DMA platform cost? or could it be hedging cost?? You'd think SB firms are in the win-win...

    Capital Spreads profit down 46%

I just read this press release from Reuters. CS's profit is down 46% and is replacing the CEO. Does this mean a few of us small time traders made money from them last year? http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKSGE61O08O20100225
